چکیده

Aims. We propose a reflection model of the time delays detected during an exceptionally bright, single flare in MCG-630-15. We consider a scenario in which the delays of the hard X-rays with respect to the soft X-rays are caused by the presence of the delayed reflection component. Methods. We employ a model of the flare, which is accompanied by reprocessed emission. We consider two geometries/thermal states of the reprocessing medium: a partially ionized accretion disk surface and a distribution of magnetically confined, cold blobs. Results. The reprocessing by cold blobs predicts positive time delays and a saturation in the time delay – energy relation, which is likely present in the data. The model requires a strong reflection component and relies on the apparent pivoting of the combined primary and reflected spectrum. The reflection by the ionized disk surface does not reproduce the observed delays. We discuss the relation between the two reflection scenarios and argue that they are both present in MCG-6-30-15.

An absorption origin for the X - ray spectral variability of MCG – 6 - 30 - 15

Context. The Seyfert I galaxy MCG−6-30-15 shows one of the best examples of a broad “red wing” of emission in its X-ray spectrum at energies 2 < E < 6.4 keV, commonly interpreted as being caused by relativistically-blurred reflection close to the event horizon of

An RXTE Observation of the Seyfert 1 Galaxy MCG − 6 - 30 - 15 : X - ray Reflection and the Iron Abundance

We report on a 50 ks observation of the bright Seyfert 1 galaxy MCG−6-30-15 with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer. The data clearly show the broad fluorescent iron line (equivalent width ∼ 250 eV), and the Compton reflection continuum at higher energies. A comparison of the iron line and the reflection continuum has enabled us to constrain reflective fraction and the elemental abundances in the ...

X - ray continuum variability of MCG – 6 - 30 - 15

This paper presents a comprehensive examination of the X-ray continuum variability of the bright Seyfert 1 galaxy MCG–6-30-15. The source clearly shows the strong, linear correlation between rms variability amplitude and flux first seen in Galactic X-ray binaries. The high frequency power spectral density (PSD) of MCG–6-30-15 is examined in detail using a Monte Carlo fitting procedure and is fo...

Timing Analysis of the Seyfert-1 Galaxy Mcg−6-30-15 with Xmm-newton Data

We present the main results of a deep timing analysis (in the 0.2-10 keV energy band) of the bright Seyfert-1 galaxy MCG−6-30-15 performed on XMM-Newton data. The light-curves and hardness ratios show that the source has large flux and spectral variations on time-scales of a few kiloseconds at most. From the analysis of both the power spectra and the structure function of the light curves we de...

Constraints on a strong X - ray flare in the Seyfert galaxy MCG - 6 - 30 - 15

We discuss implications of a strong flare event observed in the Seyfert galaxy MCG-6-30-15 assuming that the emission is due to localized magnetic reconnection. We conduct detailed radiative transfer modeling of the reprocessed radiation for a primary source that is elevated above the disk. The model includes relativistic effects and Keplerian motion around the black hole. We show that for such...
